Concert at the park

»  olya    29 Jun 2006 @ 17:54

Summer in Salt Lake means getting outside and enjoying the many events that are taking place. One of our favorites is the Concert in the Park series, held twice a week at the Brigham Young Historic Park near Temple Square. The LDS Church sponsors these concerts, so there is no admission fee, and the performers are mostly local artists.

We made the mistake last time of showing Maya what a raspberry looks like, so now when we get to the park, she heads straight for the patch in the park to see how many she can find. Hey, maybe when the other vegatables come in (the park has a pretty extensive vegetable garden), we can teach her how to collect tomatoes, zucchini, etc. No need for an extra trip to the Farmer’s Market.

Laughing out loud

Elijah surprised us tonight while we were at our neighborhood playground with a sound very different from what we are accustomed to hearing from him. Not an embarrassing sound. As we were sitting near the swings, watching Olya push Maya higher and higher, Elijah spontaneously began laughing.

This wasn’t the gleeful ggggguuu that he’s been doing for a few weeks, it was a full-out, hearty, toddler laugh. Olya and I exchanged surprised looks. Maya forgot about the swing, hunting for the souce of the sound. She was just as shocked as us to discover that the source was her not yet 3-month-old brother. Maybe Maya has been giving him lessons…
